Recipe Open Call: Healing

We invite you to write or send us a recipe!

We’re back with a new Recipe Open Call for our second publication with the theme of Healing.

Is your mothers chicken soup a salve for all aches and pains, does a hearty meal in the dark winter comfort you through the night, do the vegetables from your garden fill you with vitality, do you bring sweet treats for mates when life has been tough, or is a cuppa tea the cure to all turmoils?

For this edition we invite everyone to submit recipes, meals or stories around food that they can find or gift healing in – elaborate or simple, beautifully presented or your a guilty pleasure, a classical combo, a hyperfixation or a family inheritance. We are interested in the different ways a healing recipe exists to you, what can strengthen the body can also ease the mind, bring a community together again or recultivate a damaged environment. Share with us how you use food to heal and pass it forward to contribute to someone else’s journey.

As a collaboration we are interested in the intimacy of connecting over meals, how a method of cooking or the significance of ingredients shapes our sense of self, bonding us to others and affecting how we navigate through the world.

What to submit:

  • Any recipe with personal significance
  • Your Name & title of the dish
  • Contact details (may include your studio number)
  • Additional descriptions, stories, contexts, photos, scans or handwritten notes.

Note: Not all information will be published, such as contact details. Let us know if you would like anything else to remain private.

Submit to: studio106gallery@gmail.com, or if you happen to be a neighbour drop it at our studio door.

Deadline: Tuesday 31 March (Midnight)

We are planning future editions that include approximately 10 recipes, so if you don’t see yours this time please submit again for our next one!
